| Definition of NegligenceNegligence is the failure to act as a reasonable prudent person when we have a duty to avoid negligence. The persons to whom we have such a duty is defined by law. In Washington the elements of negligence which must be proved are duty, breach of duty, proximate causation, and resulting injury. Alger v.
